This new Diana Hunter thriller takes off in grand style when Diana takes on a case for Maude McCallvoy, a woman with significant political and financial influence in the state of California. Maude's relationship with her son Robby is troubled, and she hires Diana to investigate his activities.Diana finds Robby working at a homeless shelter, and she goes undercover and discovers that he appears to be investigating the owners of the shelter who are an obnoxious pair who are collecting welfare dollars for only minimal services, but that is only a very small part of their activities. Digging deeper Diana finds the pair is also running a real estate scam. Investigating the paper trail of the real estate deeds leads Diana deep into the subprime lending and real estate foreclosures that led to the financial crisis of the early 21st Century.
The deeper she digs, she finds shell companies within shell companies, and finally a German bank and a corrupt senator. Then Robbie is murdered. Maude takes Diana off the case. Diana knows who murdered Robby and wants to bring the murderer to justice, but Maude refuses. Why would a mother not want her child's murderer brought to justice?
Although this novel was a fun and enjoyable read, Joan Francis investigates a big question. Just how deep was the corruption of the subprime lending fiasco? In my opinion this is one of the most important questions of the 21st Century.

Corporatocracy Rules A Diana Hunter Thriller Joan Francis 9780982137024 Books Reviews
Another page turner by Joan Francis. I really was hooked from the beginning when our hero Diana Hunter is hired to keep an eye on a wealthy woman's son. She has to go undercover and mingle with the homeless in a shelter. Later there is a romantic twist for the reader as we find Diana again being pursued by a ruthless gang of thugs. I liked the way she has to think on her feet and figure things out like a Sherlock Holmes wannabe. There is enough violence and intrigue to please everyone and I hope you will enjoy this latest thriller as much as I did.
